Jump into the fray with Melissa to explore the acting essentials she values most through her decades of experience including working with your “wants”, verbal action choices, selection of beats, variety of rhythms and nuancing, subtext and inner dialoguing. You’ll integrate hypothetical dialogue into your scene work (geez, is every monologue a dialogue in disguise? We’re sure we’ve heard that somewhere before…) to bring a sense of relationship and connection to your monologues. Continue to expand your listening skills so that you are organically and spontaneously reacting, creating a personal performance that will come from a true sense of what you need and feel in the moment.
The Competition:
The top four students from each scene study class will advance to a final competition class. If you are among the twelve students chosen, you’ll perform the memorized monologue honed in your scene study class (or if you’re feeling adventurous another one of your choosing) in front of the judges: Samantha Paris and a top San Francisco agent, another opportunity to showcase your abilities in front of an agent and put yourself in the running for a chance at THREE fabulous prizes!
All finalists will get priority status for a private lesson with Samantha to further work your competition monologue at a discounted price before the finals weekend!
PRIZES:
1st PLACE: $1,000 Scholarship
2ND PLACE: One FREE four-week workshop or weekend seminar
3RD PLACE: One FREE private lesson with Samantha Paris
